Who is Shimon Peres
Former President of Israel, Shimon Peres is now a globally acclaimed leader and ambassador for peace. Born in Poland in 1923, Peres held almost any possible role in Israeli statesmanship, including as a member of the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, between 1959 and 2006, as the Prime Minister and as the ceremonial head of state, the President, between 2007 and 2014.
Shimon Peres won the Noble prize for Peace, together with Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat, and ever since, he has been a strong speaker for peace. Despite his age, Peres is well connected to younger generations and to modern technology. The great photograph was taken by Michal Chelbin for The New York Times. Nowadays, Shimon Peres is accepted as one of the most important thinkers and leaders of our age, in the same group as legends like Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi.
